In our experience, the average move cost for a local move is $850, but it all depends on how big your house is and how full…size does matter.

Yes, we have dedicated training days and monthly safety meetings to address best practices.  We use intake forms, training, and videos when onboarding new staff.

Alberta Strong Movers uses only disc locks on the fleet to secure cargo, which is the kind that can’t be removed with bolt-cutters.  As we modernize our methods to cutting edge, we might even add body cams or closed-circuit surveillance.  

3 weeks is normally plenty of notice except if you plan to move in the summer better off with 4 weeks to be safe. 

Local moves are charged hourly since it’s the simplest and most straightforward way to handle it.  Of course, you as the consumer must be careful about hidden charges.  While Alberta Strong Movers doesn’t have fuel surcharges, mileage fees or scale fees, some moving companies definitely do.  

We use furniture blankets, tape, shrink wrap as a standard and if you order our packing service we also use moving boxes, packing paper, and bubble wrap.  If you just want us to pack and prep, we can even palletize for you. 

We work with our customers to find the best solution to satisfy the problem.  If the customer can’t delay and MUST be out of their house that day we can always send a truck and crew from one of our other locations to cover it.

Prescription pharmaceuticals, controlled substances, propane, gas and other flammables, anything considered ‘hazardous’ (we do not transport dangerous goods), and firearms.  We also recommend our customers to arrange their own transport for expensive jewelry, coin collections, and cash obviously.  Cleaning supplies should be boxed and transported separately.

If you paid a deposit, 3 days or more notice of cancellation seems reasonable and we will happily return your deposit.  If you have to reschedule, no problem!  No extra fee either for doing so.

On a local move, normally you can be in contact with the crew directly and we have a quality control agent who will contact you and you can phone the office with any specific requests.  On weekends there is one manager available to speak to and you simply ask the crew to provide the number or they can pass on any messages to that person.  For long-distance moves, the above applies and you’ll also be given the driver’s phone number along with our dispatcher’s number.

Our fleet is chipped with GPS and software so we can track truck locations in real-time and provide updates as needed.  We also have electronic logbooks, so if your goods are delayed due to legal hours of operation limits because of bad weather or construction delays we can let you know that ahead of time.

We do junk removal bundled into your move so once your move has been completed we can return to your old home and take care of any leftover furniture you wish to dispose of.  We can also recycle your empty moving boxes post-move and if you unpack while we are offloading there is no extra charge.  Other services we provide are packing, bubblewrapping, shrinkwrapping, new out-of-the-box furniture assembly including desks and office set-ups, commercial relocations, disassembly/reassembly of furniture.

We are a long-time member of the Chamber of Commerce in good standing, Fleet Complete, Esso Fleet, an Alberta ELD program, and Wyze.  We plan to add more trucking organizations this year and beyond, including the Canadian Association of Movers and BBB as we continue to grow.  While we are not a member of the BBB, the reason we have a great score with them is that we answer and address any complaint and use their in-house process to improve and help move you better!
